| La Tana dei Goblin: who are they? |
La Tana dei Goblin is a group of free and no profit gaming associations located in Italy and continually growing, founded with the goal of spreading the culture of "intelligent games" with respect to boardgames, card games, roleplaying games and the like. In more than ten years of activity, La Tana dei Goblin (previously known as "The Goblin's Lair" and recentely reverted to its original italian name, registered as copyright) organized its own gaming conventionz as well as cooperating with other organizations and associations in some of the main italian gaming events like ModCon, VerCon, Ludica, Lucca Comics & Games, Mucca Games and more. The whole group is coordinated by a foundation (Fondazione La Tana dei Goblin), responsible for all general issues, supporting the associations activities and managing the common group image and behavious. In less than two years, the foundation brought to life 15 affiliated associations in Italy, all named "La Tana dei Goblin..." and sharing the same logo and website (this one).
Every year, La Tana dei Goblin cooperates with Club TreEmme in Modena, managing the free gaming space at the national games convention ModCon, where its associates are available to freely introduce games, explain rules and organize gaming groups. Besides of this, La Tana dei Goblin yearly organizes a tournament of national relevance named TdG Italian Masters, in order to select the winner team as representative of Italy at European Boardgames Championships. Even though its activities are mainly located in Italy, La Tana dei Goblin is well known even outside its country, as demonstrated by the fact of being invited each year at the Gathering of Friends in USA.
La Tana dei Goblin is also active in the world of producing and distributing games, with agreements and collaborations in order to translate games and rules in italian (many of these are already on the market with the TdG logo). Finally, a convention policy with sellers and shops provides the 1.714 TdG associates with special conditions in order to buy games. After an agreement with Panini Modena, in 2007, the first edition of the “Almanacco dei Giochi da Tavolo” has been published in Italy, a sort of illustrated 300-page catalogue of boardgames, whose contents are entirely based on La Tana dei Goblin reviews. |
