Un sistema dadoso e cartoso, americano all'ennesima potenza... non nasconde un bel wargame. Un po' di fortuna, ma ben distribuita tra pesca e dadi... quindi alla fin fine un colpo di fortuna (o sfortuna) capita a tutti i giocatori. Con quattro parametri ben distribuiti si delineano armate molto diverse tra loro. Con le loro peculirità da saper usare. Un gioco che si vorrebbe sfruttare al di la degli scenari (storicamente verosimili, ma talvolta sbilanciati a favore di una fazione). Più di una variante consente di creare eserciti di pari simile e fronteggiarsi in battaglie "di fantasia". Inoltre trovo decisamente cubetti di legno (molto piu' evocativi delle miniature, secondo me... sembra di esser generali che studiano i movimenti delle truppe sulla mappa). Semplice e profondo e allo stesso tempo "arcade".

"Commands & Colors: Ancients depicts warfare from the Dawn of Military History (3000 BC) to the opening of the Middle Ages (400 AD). The 15 battles, showcased in the scenario booklet, although stylized, focus on important terrain features and the historical deployment of forces in scale with the game system.
