There is a lot of text between encounters. Decisions are spread out organically and in no guaranteed fashion much like a bioware game. Sometimes choices are made during the story, and other times its something your doing during an encounter,
such as how to win in the case of multiple win conditions. We are including a fully supported mode called the Crawl Mode that has little to no story and instead focuses on killing thing, getting loot, and leveling up. It's uses cards to produce a semi randomly generated dungeon. Kind of like warhammer quest or the pathfinder adventure card game.
5. Yes, and yes. Since choices can effect individual characters more than others its recommended you play with 4 players. But it can be played solo. The Crawl Mode is wonderful with 1-5 players. We will be releasing a story update that details various aspects of the mechanics and how the work with telling a story.
