Cyvasse is a two-player strategy board game, featured in George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.
Cyvasse features ten types of “unit” (King, Dragon, Elephant, Trebuchet, Catapult, Heavy Horse, Light Horse, Crossbowman, Spearman and Rabble) with different powers and attributes and capture conditions. In addition, the board includes individual "Mountain" and "Fortress" tiles, allowing for a different battlefield terrain each game Before play, each player arranges their half of the board secretly, placing units and terrain tiles under cover of a large dividing screen. Once arranged, the screen is removed and play proceeds in alternating turns. Each piece has its own strengths and weaknesses, and multiple units (such as Elephants and Spearmen) may be moved during a single turn. The game ends upon the capture of an opposing player’s King. Cyvasse combines the simple elegance of chess with elements reminiscent "Stratego" and "Blitzkrieg". The following material represents an amalgamation of the better fan-published material found online coupled with my own ideas.
It is hoped that the following interpretation provides a balanced, interesting and (above all) fun Cyvasse experience while keeping as close as possible to the descriptions presented in the novels.
