The Greek Gods have a crisis. Their power depends on mortal men’s faith, but as men look heavenward less and less, the Gods grow weaker. If totally forgotten, they will cease to exist. No more sunrises, no more seasons, no more rains, no more harvests. Earth is doomed. In the year 2319, Zeus calls together The Council, made up of 12 powerful gods, to discuss the dire situation. Aphrodite, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Apollo, Demeter, Hades, Hera, Hermes, Hephaestus, Poseidon, and Zeus. However, their interpersonal conflicts make finding agreement impossible. Finally, one decision is made. A competition of epic proportion, the first of its kind, will be held to identify which of them will lead them to a brighter future. They will call their champions Invictus–meaning invincible–a title reserved for Kings. With advancements in technology, the playing field is even. All will unite under this new order no matter who wins. With Invictus in place and the Gods united, they can begin to restore mankind’s faith and ensure earth’s future. As a team, defeat the opposition and get them to recognize you as Invictus. Invictus is a deck-building game. During the game, players will customize their decks by purchasing more artifacts, boosts, and reinforcements. As a person’s deck runs out, the used cards are reshuffled and placed face down. Thus, your purchased cards will be used many times throughout the game. How you customize your card depends on your strategy and your character. Each player will assume the role of a Greek god and each one has special abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to use your cards strategically to defeat your opponents before they defeat you. —description from the designer
